And how much independence should you be giving your child during these years? Building Blocks needs your help!
We’re in the homestretch of the Building Blocks campaign, and we need your help to hit or exceed last year’s level of participation. As of February 18, we have 88 families donating a total of $47,000. Our goal is 60% participation.
Every dollar really does count:
- $5 can buy a book for a classroom library
- $50 can provide EOG prep materials for one child
- $500 can buy a new classroom rug
- $5,000 can help pay for a 3D printer for the new Makerspace lab.
Along with creating a Makerspace, we hope to supplement the cost of a Play 60, 40 yard turf dash on the new upper field. We need your support to give our children these opportunities that will continue to set Selwyn apart.
If you still have questions about how Building Blocks is different than other campaigns and what this year’s campaign is hoping to achieve, check out the video of Kenny Smith at the most recent Character Education Assembly.
Donate now online through PayPal, or return the paper form to school in your child’s backpack (additional forms are available in the rotunda).

Our annual Building Blocks fundraiser kicks off February 1, and this year we are hoping to raise enough money for a Makerspace Lab!
Building Blocks helps fund capital improvements (larger purchases) such as technology, playground equipment, water fillers, and classroom libraries. Gifts are confidential, and no contribution is too small. They are also tax deductible.
Look for the donation form in your child’s folder this week. Or, you can donate now!
Have you ever wondered what Building Blocks funds or have questions about the campaign? Wonder what a Makerspace Lab is? Join us for informal parent meetings to learn more about how your gift can make an impact. Drinks and light hors d’oeuvres will be served.
