If you have not returned your Red Ribbon Reading Collection Envelope, Reading Chart and pledges please do so as soon as possible! We need EVERYONE to turn in an envelope. We must have this information to plan correctly for our BIG Red Friday celebration. Remember, every hour and every dollar count!
Parents – Selwyn needs your help in completing a survey being conducted by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools!
The AdvancED survey reflects the commitment at CMS to nurture an ongoing, district-wide conversation about CMS. The questions were developed by AdvancED, an outside organization that works with schools and school systems to help them improve. They are designed to help CMS learn more about what you as a parent may be looking for in a high quality school. Your responses, once received, will inform decisions to help improve student achievement and strengthen our schools.
All individual survey responses are confidential. Only group-level results will be reported once the survey closes on October 2. The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete.

Red Ribbon Reading materials came home last week in your child’s backpack. Please fill out the collection envelope and help your children collect their pledges. We ask that your children return the collection envelope (with their enclosed sponsor checks) along with their reading chart to their teacher by Friday, September 18.
A reminder that you or your family/friends may also make donations online here . In addition, if your employer participates in the matching gift program, please read the corporate matching information sheet that came home with your child’s RRR materials and remember to enclose your company’s matching gift form. ** Please remember even if you make your donation online, we do still need the signed and completed collection envelope and reading chart! For the 2015-16 school year, CMS has instituted 4 early release days to allow for additional professional development time for teachers and staff. The first early release day is Wednesday, October 7, and all schools will release 3 hours early; Selwyn will release at 11:45am. More information will be forthcoming regarding ASEP, after school events and lunch. The other early release days are January 20 (3 hours early), March 1 (2 hours early), and April 20 (3 hours early).

As you plan your volunteer commitments, please consider serving as a learning buddy for a student at Selwyn. Your volunteer time could make a big difference in a child’s life!
