Join us the evening of Thursday, March 12 at TWC Arena at the Charlotte Checkers match to cheer on both our home team as well as our fabulous Selwyn Chorus and Student Council members! The Chorus will be singing as Student Council raises the flag before the 7:00 pm game! Purchase your tickets for $13.00 each and join us! Click here for a flyer with more information. It promises to be a fun night!
Are you interested in having your company logo on the back of every Selwyn student, on brochures and flyers sent home to all Selwyn families, as well as on our school’s great new website? The Selwyn PTA is currently looking for sponsors for this year’s Red Ribbon Reading program. RRR is our summer reading fundraiser where students set reading goals, find sponsors and raise money for Selwyn! This is a great opportunity to promote your business while being part of our community and school.
Invitations for the Selwyn Parent Party, scheduled for Friday, February 27th, 7:00 to 10:00 pm, will be going home in bags later this week. This lively event will take place at Maverick Rock Taco. For $14 per person ($28 per couple), you can mix and mingle with other Selwyn parents right in our own backyard. This price includes heavy hors d’oeuvres, too. Grab your friends and join us for what is sure to be a fun evening! Please email Jane Morrison with any questions.
A HUGE thank you to these families who have already participated in our Building Blocks Campaign! We’ve reached 42% participation and need YOU to get to 100%! Let’s go Selwyn!

It came down to the final seconds, but in the end Mrs. Harris edged out Mr. Lis to win the Building Blocks Tricycle Race to the cheers of Selwyn students and staff.
A special thanks to the family of Connor Greene (1st) for the awesome NASCAR costumes for the event; as well as our friends at Toys & Company, The Price Family (Evan/Carter) and Smith Family (Anne Gordon/Robert) for lending us a variety of trikes for our contestants to choose from.

We want to thank everyone that came together to make Selwyn Giving Day a HUGE success!
Thanks to the kind generosity of more than 210 families, you blew through all three Giving Day challenges. As of Friday, over 36% of Selwyn families had participated with family donations and pledges totaling over $68,000, and additional funds expected from matching grants! And we are still receiving donations mailed on Friday. T his means more books, technology and other educational resources for Selwyn and for Billingsville.
And of course this also means our children will love seeing Mr. Lis with blue hair and have loads of fun watching a challenging tricycle race between Mr. Lis and Mrs. Harris. It also means we’ll see Mr. Lis dressed as a turkey THIS Tuesday! In fact, Mrs. Harris was so impressed with the wonderful turnout that she’s going to dress up as a turkey too!
But we’re not done yet! We are still working towards our goal of 100% participation and $100,000 by the end of February. If you missed Giving Day, please click here to make your gift today!
The Selwyn Giving Tree will be set up in the front office starting Friday, December 5th. It will have approximately 90 snowflakes, each representing a Selwyn child or sibling in need. Selwyn parents may come to the office and sign out a snowflake. The snowflake lists a child’s wish/gift, and most requests will cost $15 or less. Please bring these gifts (in a gift bag if possible) to the front office by December 17th. Questions? Please contact Barbara Climer.
