Your children can read and record their hours through this Tuesday, September 8!
With each hour they read, your children are directly contributing to Selwyn’s success. The generous contributions of parent, family and friends collected through RRR are essential to Selwyn’s diverse learning opportunities including field trips, science lab, outreach programs and more.
Your child will be bringing home their Fall RRR information this Tuesday, September 8. Please review it, help them collect their pledges, complete their Reading Chart, fill out their Collection Envelope and return everything to school by Friday, September 18 as we are planning a fun Red Friday Celebration on Friday, October 16!
Few parents get the opportunity to see the staff lounges, but they were in the need of a bit of an uplift as seen in the pictures below.
With the use of some allocated PTA funds, these spaces received a surprise makeover over the summer. The PTA unveiled the new space to teachers and staff when they returned for the school year on August 17 – and hopes they will enjoy a well-deserved break during the day in their new and improved lounges!

Room Parents at Selwyn play a vital role in supporting the classroom teacher, coordinating volunteer needs and helping the class stay organized and up-to-date with school and class events. Each class needs two room parents. Please let us know your interest by completing the online form by Friday, August 28, 2015. All room parent selections will be made by lottery over the weekend of August 30.
Celebrate your new classes with yogurt on a visit to TCBY! Today is Selwyn Spirit Day from 12:00pm – 5:00pm. Don’t forget to mention that you are with Selwyn Elementary when ordering!
If you pre-purchased school supplies, please pick up your pack in the gym before heading to the classroom. If you did not pre-purchase, feel free to bring in your supplies on Thursday and make the first day a breeze!
Class lists will be posted on Wednesday, August 19 at 5:00 p.m. outside the school.
Volunteers are needed to help get ready for school to start. If you are available this week, check out the Sign Ups to help with 1st Day Folders, School Supply kits and especially Office Support. Come help spruce up the school before the teachers arrive back on Monday and classes begin on the 24th! Bring the family and non-powered garden tools to Campus Clean Up Day this Saturday, August 15th at 9am to join in the fun!
Summer Read-In with Mr. Lis is Tuesday, August 4 from 10am – 11:30am at Selwyn in the Media Center. Students may listen to a story, read a summer favorite and earn time toward RRR goals! Please remember your own books and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
